Adventure Activities
Unlike other film festivals we offer a range of activities to stretch the body between films. The sports hall will be open from approx 11:00am to 5:30pm for the following activities, open to all abilities, just turn up and have a go. This is an integral part of the festival, at HVAFF you can't just sit about all day watching films!
THE 2012 HVAFF CHALLENGE
To enter our 2012 HVAFF challenge simply pick up a form when you enter the sports hall.
This will list all 5 activities and you must complete 3 of them, at any standard, to complete the challenge.
Everyone who hands in a completed form will be entered into a prize draw.
Two age categories: 0 - 10 and 11 - 99.
Note that a parental consent form will be required by all under 18's participating in the bouldering events. If parents are not there on the day please make sure you collect one from the college in advance, get it signed, and bring it with you on the day.
Bouldering. (sports hall)
We offer a limited amount of bouldering, but its fun and accessible. Watch this space for bigger things next year!
Slack-line Challenge. (sports hall)
Test your balance on a fun slack-line challenge open to all. (learn to walk on a low tight (ish) rope)
Caving Challenge. (sports hall)
Test your tenacity and squirming technique in our amazing narrow, twisting and dark cave passages. Not to be missed, a festival favourite!
Mini Adventure Race. (outdoors)
This is an ideal way to stretch the mind and body between films. Simply turn up at the sports hall and enter as a single, pair or group, and navigate your way round a short course of hidden checkpoints. Speed isn't everything in this test of navigation and route finding! (Short = 10 - 15 mins)
Mountain Bike Trail. (outdoors) 2pm - 4pm.
HVC is the first UK state school to open a purpose built mountain bike trail and it will be open on the day for supervised use. Bring your bike to have a go, or borrow one of the 2 loan bikes available on site.
